It is with a heavy heart that we announce that this will be the last season for Colorado Alliance. We are a sister club to 303 Volleyball Academy and have enjoyed sharing the space with them. I will quote our executive director, Erik Rhee, directly by saying, "In addition to other factors, our lease is expiring this summer, and the market rate rent is drastically higher than what we are paying now - along with inflation, our desire to keep fees as low as we could, all while providing financial support to families in need, it became clear that the prudent fiscal decision was to bring an end our operations."
Alliance started 5 years ago as such a labor of love and I have been so proud of all the families we've been able to touch over the years. So many athletes used it as a starting point, a spring board to something bigger or found it to be the perfect fit for their club experience. We prided ourselves on being able to find a home for everyone.
We wanted to create a positive and encouraging environment where everyone felt welcome. The coaches of Colorado Alliance have been the backbone of this program. Their unwavering commitment to bettering every athlete they came in contact with is a testament to why we were so successful. I would like to give a special thanks to Anthony Leiber, Brent Timmons and Tom MacDougall who have been with me since the beginning. Thank you also to Kaitlin Dennehy who has been with us for several years and left such a special mark with our 18's teams. These coaches would bring girls back season after season because of the way they coached and how they made them fall in love with the sport. To say I'm eternally grateful to them would be an understatement.
I would also like to thank Erik Rhee for providing me the opportunity, encouragement and mentorship to start this club. He believed fiercely in providing as many opportunities as we could to the youth in our city and there would have been no Colorado Alliance without him.
I was so happy to partner with Chris Phillips down in the Springs this season so that we were able to expand our AAU tournament series. This season we hosted teams from 5 different states and quadrupled our tournament opportunities. I know Chris is excited to keep the Centennial State Series going for years to come!
Finally, to all the families who walked through our doors... thank you for letting us be a part of your lives. It has been an honor and privilege to be a chapter in your daughter's book; know that you all hold a very special place in mine.
Sincerely,
Rachel
